Your data, in plain words

This policy explains what personal data Nope & Hope ("we", "us") collects, why, and your rights under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. Nope & Hope is run by Prachi Purohit in India.

What we collect

• Account details: your name and email address, when you make a free account. We sign you in with a one-time code sent to your email.
• Payment details: when you buy a report, Razorpay processes the payment. We receive a payment confirmation and amount, never your card, UPI PIN or bank details.
• Messages you send us: through the contact form or email.
• Your application tracker: the companies, roles, links, dates, statuses and notes you add. If you're signed in, they're saved to your account so you can see them on any device; otherwise they stay in your browser. Only you can see them.
• Scam reports: when you report a sender, we store a scrambled (hashed) form of the phone number, email, UPI ID or link, the type of scam, and your account ID. Other users only ever see how many times something was reported, never who reported it.
• Basic usage data: such as pages visited and device type, to keep the site working and improve it.

What we don't keep

The job messages, offer letters, CVs and job ads you check are read inside your own browser. We don't store them on our servers. If you use the optional AI rewrite, only your weak CV bullet points and the job ad are sent to our AI provider to produce the rewrite, and we don't keep a copy.

Why we use your data

• To keep the service secure and fix problems

We don't sell your data, and we don't share it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only service providers who help run Nope & Hope: website hosting (GitHub), our database and sign-in provider (Supabase), payments (Razorpay), email delivery, and the AI rewrite feature. They may use your data only to provide that service to us.

How long we keep it

We keep account details while your account is open, and delete them within 30 days of you asking us to. Payment records are kept as long as Indian tax law requires.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, withdraw your consent, or nominate someone to act for you. Write to the grievance officer below and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied, you can complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Age

Nope & Hope is meant for people aged 18 and over.

Cookies and browser storage

We use your browser's storage to remember that you're signed in and how many free checks you've used. We don't use advertising cookies.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and, for important changes, tell account holders.
